    It’s official.  Italian automaker FIAT now owns 53.5% of Chrysler Group LLC has plans to own an additional 5% by the end of 2011.  

     FIAT paid the American Government $500 million and the Canadian Government $125 million. 

     FIAT also plans to purchase shares held by the United Auto Workers Union (UAW) and will meet with them on Monday, July 25th 2011 to negotiate a new four year contract.
